Westminster Focus

Britain's Leading Edge advocates for greater Government focus and funding for peripheral areas. We communicate with politicians and officials to promote our manifesto aims. On this page we highlight a small number of our recent interactions.

Letter to Secretaries of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Energy Security and Net Zero.

In July 2024 we wrote to the Rt. Hon. Steve Reed MP and the Rt. Hon. Ed Miliband MP to set out our three key aspirations to power the UK, feed the UK and be the lungs of the UK. The synergy between these aims and those of two major Government departments is striking: we want to work with Government for mutual benefit.

Letter to Sir Keir Starmer, when he was Leader of the Opposition.

After the announcement of the 2024 General Election, we wrote to the leaders of the five main political parties in England to introduce them to Britain's Leading Edge. We wanted to explain our aims and invite whoever formed the next Government to work with us - as the challenges and opportunities for peripheral places need to be central to discussions at Westminster.

Manifesto presentation to the then-Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

In 2023, Councillor Linda Taylor, Leader of Cornwall Council, met the Rt. Hon. Michael Gove when he was Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Councillor Taylor presented Mr Gove with a copy of the second Britain's Leading Edge manifesto and discussed our aims.
